  • It is now possible to assign custom names to characters, which can be used in the search field. PopChar can now show all the fonts in which a character is available, along with the character's appearance. Keyboard equivalents for the context menu items when a character is selected. Supports the 'Brand New Roman' color font.
  • PopChar finds all ligatures that are available in a font and shows them in a separate section at the bottom of the character table. PopChar 8.1 enhances the ligatures feature by now showing ligatures also as recent characters, and ligatures can be added to the favorite characters section as well.
  • 'Hershey n', where n is the Hershey font number; On Windows platforms, you may also use any other fonts installed on your system. See Using TrueType Fonts for a list of available characters in the above fonts. Set this property to an integer or floating-point value giving the font size in points. The default is 9.
  • Below that, it shows Related Characters, if any, and scroll down to see Font Variation. You can customize the Characters palette to reveal frequently used subsets.

In the font list, PopChar shows color icons to let you easily distinguish among raster, vector, TrueType and OpenType fonts. Preferences are now stored separately for each user. PopChar did not display all characters in some fonts. PopChar did not handle the font Code2000 correctly. PopChar did not include all available printer fonts in its.

It's a must have for anyone who deals with fonts on a daily basis. There are many font utilities out there, but this one is the leader of the pack!

Floating

In Dark Mode, you even have the choice to see PopChar's character table in a traditional black-on-white view as on paper or a light-on-dark view that blends perfectly with the dark appearance. Since this is a matter of taste, the preferred style can be changed in PopChar's preferences.

Installation

To install PopChar X, download it from our downloads page. PopChar X is distributed as a macOS disk image (DMG). Once you have mounted the disk image, simply double-click the PopChar icon to install and launch PopChar.

As long as you do not have a license key, PopChar operates in trial mode with some special characters disabled.

When you purchase a license key and enter it in the Registration window of PopChar X, the dimmed characters will immediately become active.
